Bath Township Reminds Residents to Celebrate the Fourth of July Safely
As families and friends gather to celebrate Independence Day, Bath Township encourages everyone to enjoy the holiday responsibly and to follow Ohio's fireworks laws.
Under Ohio law, consumer-grade (1.4G) fireworks may be discharged on private property with the permission of the property owner during designated dates throughout the year. For the Independence Day holiday, fireworks may be discharged on:
• July 3, July 4, and July 5
• The first Friday, Saturday, and Sunday before and after July 4 (when those dates differ from July 3-5)
Residents are reminded that fireworks should only be discharged by adults and only in a safe and responsible manner. Always read and follow the manufacturer's instructions, maintain a safe distance from spectators, keep a water source readily available, and never attempt to relight fireworks that fail to ignite properly.
With many areas experiencing dry weather conditions, extra caution is essential. Dry grass, leaves, and other vegetation can ignite quickly, increasing the risk of brush and structure fires. If conditions become especially dry or windy, residents should strongly consider postponing the use of fireworks until conditions improve.
The Township also encourages residents to be considerate of neighbors, veterans, young children, pets, livestock, and wildlife. Loud fireworks can be particularly disruptive and stressful for animals and individuals who may be sensitive to sudden explosions.
If an emergency occurs, call 9-1-1 immediately.
