***Public Service Announcement and Monthly Fire Run Report***
Tuscola County is under a Red Flag Warning. This warming has put us in a burn ban. At this time we will not be issuing any burn permits until conditions get better. We strongly advise on not having any outdoor burning due to dry conditions and high wind speeds. Thank you and stay safe.

Attention all residents in the Village of Akron Fire Department fire coverage area:
As you begin your seasonal yard cleanup (when its not cold and rainy), please be advised that a burn permit is required for any open burning of yard waste. To ensure the safety of others and prevent uncontrolled fires, all residents must contact the Village of Akron Fire Department before starting a burn.
- Permit Requirement: You must obtain a valid permit for burning leaves, brush, or other natural yard debris.
- Safety First: Once a permit is issued, residents are required to notify our department prior to starting and upon completion of their burn activities.
-Prohibited Materials: Burning of trash, plastic, rubber, or treated wood is prohibited at all times.
Please contact the village hall or feel free to direct message our page to obtain a permit. Thank you and stay safe!

What: Benefit Chicken Dinner, Silent Auction, and Bake Sale

Where: Colwood Church, 1840 Colwood Rd, Caro, MI
Cost: $10 per person
Every bit of support helps Mason’s family with medical costs. If you can’t make it, donations are also being welcomed. Let's show the Turner family the strength of our communities!

With the high wind advisory there is a chance for down trees and powerlines. Please do not approach these wires as they can still be live and very dangerous. Please call 911 to notify of any hazards. Stay safe.

The state is blanketed in alerts this evening. High wind warnings are in effect for all of southern and parts of central Michigan. Winds may gust to 60mph beginning Friday morning.

Winter weather advisories are in place for northern lower Michigan and portions of the tri-cities/thumb. Moderate snowfall accumulations and high winds will cause reduced visibility and treacherous travel.

In the Upper Peninsula, significant snowfall accumulations (8”+) will combine with gusty winds. Near blizzard conditions are expected at times, with significant travel impacts likely through Friday.
