New Apparatus Spotlight!

The Newstead Fire Company is proud to introduce our newest addition to the fleet!

This versatile new apparatus is built on a Ford F-550 Crew Cab chassis, powered by a 7.3L Gas engine, and features a 10' rescue body.

Key Features & Capabilities:

Eco-CAF System: Equipped with a 60-gallon Eco CAF system capable of producing up to 1,200 gallons of Class A foam for rapid fire suppression.

Primary EMS Role: This truck will serve as our primary EMS response vehicle out of Station 1.

Vegetation & Grass Fires: It will be our dedicated unit for all vegetation and brush fires.

Trailer Transport: It is also equipped to tow the trailer carrying 5-1 directly to emergency scenes.

Funding & Acknowledgments:

The majority of the cost for this new truck was generously covered by a grant we received, significantly lessening the impact on our community while providing us with essential upgrade capabilities.

We purchased the truck from Colden, with the custom rescue body built by Ward Fire Apparatus.

A special thank you goes out to VSP for the fantastic job on the graphics package, and a massive thank you to the Newstead Fire Company truck committee for their tireless work, research, and dedication throughout the entire process of acquiring this new piece of apparatus.

Stop by and take a look at our newest tool to help keep the Town of Newstead safe!

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Life Member, Richard “Dick” Thomas. Dick was a dedicated member of the Newstead Fire Company, most notably holding the office of Vice President in 1975, 1979, and 1991. He helped start the Fire Company softball team and was an instrumental piece in helping lead the team to championships in 1984, 1989, 1990, 1991, and 1995. Most recently, Dick was with the team as they won the Championship for the first time in 31 years this past Sunday, being the first to hoist the Championship trophy after the win. We send our deepest condolences to Dick’s family and friends. Rest easy, Champ!

PRESS RELEASE / INCIDENT UPDATE

NEWSTEAD, NY — On August 9th at 11:58 AM, the Newstead Fire Company was dispatched to the report of a bicyclist struck by a vehicle on Buell St.

Upon arrival, Newstead chiefs found the patient down in the roadway, already receiving initial care from attentive bystanders and an Akron Volunteer Firefighter. Newstead chiefs immediately stepped in to provide initial first aid, with Twin City Ambulance also responding directly to the scene to assist with comprehensive patient care.

To ensure the safety of the patient and emergency crews, Newstead Fire Police shut down Buell St between Main Road and Skyline Drive. Newstead Rescue apparatus responded to the scene to provide critical additional manpower and support operations.

Due to the nature of the injuries, Mercy Flight was requested and responded to the scene. Mercy Flight 8 successfully landed and transported one patient to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) for further emergency treatment.

Newstead chiefs and fire police remained on location to maintain the road closure until the New York State Police completed their on-scene investigation.

We want to extend our sincere thanks to the bystanders, the Akron Volunteer Firefighter, Twin City Ambulance, Mercy Flight, and our law enforcement partners for their seamless teamwork and coordination during this incident.
