Member of the Month: Nikk Bruner

The Newstead Fire Company is proud to recognize Nikk Bruner as our Member of the Month!

Nikk has become a familiar face on the apparatus, consistently appearing on our "Top Responders" list month after month. His commitment to answering the tones at all hours ensures that our trucks get out the door and help reaches our neighbors when they need it most.

Beyond responding to emergencies, Nikk recently dedicated an entire day to assisting with our annual Hose Testing. This is a grueling but vital task where every foot of fire hose on every truck is pressurized and inspected to ensure it won’t fail during a fire. It’s "behind-the-scenes" work like this that keeps our department professional and our firefighters safe.

Thank you, Nikk, for your hard work, your consistent reliability, and your dedication to the Newstead Fire Company. We are lucky to have you on the team!

International Firefighters’ Day

Today, May 4th, we observe International Firefighters’ Day. While the world pauses to recognize the dedication of first responders everywhere, we want to take a moment to speak directly to our own family: the members of the Newstead Fire Company.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to every one of our volunteer members for your consistent hard work and unwavering dedication.

We acknowledge the hundreds of hours you give, and the time you spend away from your families, to fulfill our motto: "We Serve So Others May Live."

INCIDENT UPDATE: EARLY MORNING TRAILER FIRE

Early this morning at 02:44, Newstead firefighters were alerted to a reported vehicle fire on Main Road in the vicinity of diesel gas pumps. Given the potential hazard of the location, crews responded immediately.

Newstead 9-1 arrived on the scene to find a trailer fully involved in flames. To ensure adequate water supply and manpower, mutual aid was requested for one engine from the Pembroke Fire Department and one engine from the Akron Fire Company.

Newstead firefighters worked quickly to knock down the flames and successfully extinguished the fire. Because of the rapid knockdown, both the Akron and Pembroke units were canceled while they were still in response.

Unfortunately, the trailer is a total loss, but the quick work of our crews prevented any spread to the nearby fuel pumps.

We would like to thank our partners in Akron and Pembroke for their readiness to assist. No injuries were reported.
