Another smooth Mountain of Food is in the books, and it would not have been possible without our incredible volunteers! 💜

Thank you to our partners Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and Project MKC, and to our amazing volunteers including board members Dan Culp, Senior Vice President Commercial Banking at WesBanco, Laura Littman, CPA, Senior Manager at Sikich 7 Matthew Erkkila, Realtor at Keller Williams Chervenic Realty, Hudson United Methodist Church, Rev. Dr. Cindy from The The Bath Church, United Church Of Christ, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School and Akron Rubber Development Laboratory, Inc.

A special shoutout to Dan and Matt, whose children spent time serving alongside us before heading off to lacrosse competitions in Indiana and Columbus. Good luck to all of the young athletes. We're cheering for you!

It was also wonderful to welcome back former Pantry Manager Carleigh. She stepped right back into the flow of things as if she had never left. Once part of the OPEN M family, always part of the OPEN M family. 💜

Days like today are a reminder that we never truly know what our neighbors may be carrying. One gentleman came looking for a bottle of water. As we talked with him, he left with food and a few new friends. He quietly shared that it had been a long time since he had spoken with someone who wasn't yelling at him.

He was gentle, kind and grateful. His story was a reminder that sometimes the smallest acts of compassion can completely change someone's day.

Today we served:

✨ 45 adult incontinence products
✨ 85 menstrual products
✨ 103 pups
✨ 108 meows

Thank you to everyone who showed up, worked hard, shared a smile and reminded our neighbors that they matter.

Some days perfectly capture what OPEN M is all about.

Today, families received food through our pantry while students from Archbishop Hoban High School's JAM (Justice Akron Ministry) program volunteered alongside our team, helping pack food for pantry clients and assist with other pantry operations. Students from Imagine Leadership Academy also picked up food boxes prepared through a partnership between OPEN M and Western Reserve Academy.

Meanwhile, our Employment Services team welcomed participants to the first week of BAPA Peer Mentoring Program(Becoming a Productive Adult), a peer mentoring program designed to help young adults build skills and confidence for the future. Our clinic also continued providing care to patients throughout the day.

At the same time, staff and volunteers were hard at work preparing for Mountain of Food (M*F) this Friday.

Every box packed, every lesson shared and every patient served represents a community coming together to create pathways toward stability and hope.

Thank you to every volunteer, partner and supporter who helps make days like this possible. 💜

No pre-registration is needed — just bring a photo ID, a piece of mail or document with your name and current address. We’re here to serve with love, dignity and a whole lot of compassion!

Last year, Gavin planned and built accessible raised garden beds for the OPEN M Community Garden with help from his troop and . These beds continue to help us grow fresh produce for neighbors in need while making gardening more accessible for all.

We're grateful for Gavin's leadership, service and lasting impact on our community. 💜🌱

OPEN M Holiday Schedule Update 💜

Please note that OPEN M will be open on Friday, June 19 for our monthly Mountain of Food distribution.

In observance of the holiday, our offices and programs will be closed on Monday, June 22 and will reopen on Tuesday during regular business hours.

We look forward to serving our community at Mountain of Food on Friday and appreciate your understanding as we observe the holiday.

💜 Help Keep Our Clinic Shelves Stocked 💜

Our Health Services team is in need of a few over-the-counter medications to help care for uninsured and underserved patients in our community.

Current needs include:
✔️ Acetaminophen (Tylenol) 325mg
✔️ Acetaminophen (Tylenol) 500mg
✔️ Aspirin 81mg
✔️ Ibuprofen (Advil) 200mg
✔️ Naproxen (Aleve) 220mg

Donations of these items help ensure that uninsured patients who visit the OPEN M Clinic can access the care and support they need without having to choose between their health and other basic necessities.
