FRIENDS OF THE NEWSTEAD PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Friends of the Library is a non-profit group of community members who believe that an excellent library is essential to their community and work to promote and assist the library. The Friends fundraise primarily through their semiannual used books sales. These funds are then used to purchase special items for the library and for community programming and events. To become a “Friend,” stop in the library and fill out a brief form. Membership is $2 for students and seniors, $3 for an individual, $5 for a family, and $50 for lifetime. One of the perks to becoming a friend is entrance to preview night of the book sale! ABITIBI RECYCLING PROGRAM
Recycling Paper Earns Money for the Library! You will now find a bright yellow and green Abitibi Paper Retriever Recycling Bin in the rear parking lot of the Newstead Public Library. Please drop off your newspapers, magazines, shopping catalogs, old mail, shredded papers, office papers, school papers and envelopes in the recycling bin. Items not accepted are cardboard, cereal/soda cartons, food wrap/ containers, tissue products, phone books, plastic or glass. Did you know that every year Americans use more than 67 million tons of paper or 580 pounds per person? That is a lot of paper! Please bring your recyclable paper to the yellow and green bin.
