Westover's dinosaurs were also happy to duck out with M4A! To join activities like these, visit your local senior center or call M4A at 205-670-5770!

Stand Together for World Elder Abuse Awareness Month (WEAAM)

This June, M4A invites you to help protect our seniors from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Caring for our elders is a fundamental duty, and we need your help to make a difference.

• Wear Purple on June 15: Show your support for Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
• Spread the Word: Follow our social media campaign to help educate our community.

Monthly Challenge: Combat isolation—a major abuse risk—by reaching out to an older neighbor or relative. Whether it’s helping with chores or simply stopping by for a chat, your kindness fosters a sense of safety and belonging.

What a groovy way to celebrate Older Americans Month! ✌️🌸

We are so grateful for the wonderful turnout at our annual community picnics across Blount, Chilton, St. Clair, and Walker counties. These events are about so much more than just a gathering—they are a celebration of the strength, independence, and wisdom of our older adults.

It was truly inspiring to see so many familiar faces enjoying the food, music, and—most importantly—the fellowship. Beyond the fun, these picnics provided a vital opportunity for us to connect, share resources, and ensure that our seniors and their caregivers remain empowered and informed about the services available to them.

A massive thank you to our amazing senior center managers, our dedicated local partners, and every individual who contributed to making these events a success. And a special shout-out to Breana Mahaffey, M4A’s Older Americans Act Manager, for coordinating these wonderful events!

We are so proud to support a community that values aging well and staying connected. Check out the video below for a look back at the fun we had!
