Pictures from our annual Sports Fest golf tournament are starting to come in. Thank you to our amazing sponsors for supporting this event which gives substantial donations to the needs of our youth in the City of Alachua. Last year we provided funding help for a new homework center in the Alachua branch Library and also provided startup funding for a new lacrosse league at the City of Alachua parks and rec department. Thank you all!

The City of Alachua 4th of July celebration we help to sponsor has been postponed until a later date. We will keep everyone updated on what decisions are made. Thank you for understanding.

Due to the State of Florida’s requirements on limiting crowd size as part of the Governor’s reopening plans in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual July 4th Celebration in Alachua, which attracts more than 25,000 people each year, has been cancelled. We know how important this special event is for our community, so we are working on moving the festivities to Labor Day weekend. We will provide more details as the planning continues.

Phase 2 starts today.

City partnering with Florida Department of Health to provide Covid-19 Testing

The City of Alachua is partnering with the Florida Department of Health in Alachua County to provide drive-thru COVID-19 testing to Alachua residents ages 10 and older.

Testing will be offered on Monday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to noon at no out-of-pocket cost to Alachua residents, with or without insurance. The tests will be available by appointment only to ensure residents receive important information and to increase the speed of the testing process. Tests can be administered to multiple people in one vehicle if members of households want to be tested at the same time for convenience. The nasal swab test takes less than a minute to perform. Residents will remain in their vehicle during the process.

To make an appointment, call 386-418-6147 Monday-Thursday between 7:30 am. and 6 p.m., or email [email protected] anytime. Appointments must be scheduled no later than 5 p.m. on June 3.

The Florida Department of Health of Alachua County will administer the tests. However, results are not available immediately. Results are typically available within 3-7 days.

Residents should not bring any pets with them during testing.

Great News! Lets continue to open up and get everyone back to work... safely.

Thank you all again for the continued support and adjusting to strictly take out over the past few weeks. Do to the size of our dining room and our seating capacity, we have made the decision to continue with only take out and curbside. As much as we would love to serve your smiling faces and hear the conversation and laughter, we feel this is best at this time and will reevaluate when the next Executive Order is issued.

Thank you!
