May 13th marked the grand opening of the Village of Love Temescal Unsheltered Drop-In Center, a space rooted in dignity, care, and community. ❤️

The Drop-In Center offers showers, substance use support groups, housing navigation, medical and dental services, breakfast and lunch, device charging stations, computer access, Wi-Fi, TV, and a safe place to relax.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!
Mental health is wealth, especially during Mental Health Awareness Month, which is celebrated in May. The stigma around mental health and treatment has long existed, even though this has started to change. Still, people hesitate to seek help or even talk about it with their loved ones for fear of being judged and facing unnecessary backlash. Simple logic dictates that if we are hurt anywhere, we must seek treatment to get better. This applies to both our mental- and physical well-being. Take time to take care of yourself. You are important.

It takes a village, and at The Village of Love, we care about yours. April is National Minority Health
Month! Raising awareness about the health disparities that affect racial and ethnic minority communities.
This year’s theme, “Be the Source for Better Health,” reminds us that our cultures, communities, and connections are the heartbeat of our well-being. Everyone deserves the opportunity to be as healthy as possible. ❤️

This is just a little something that I do. When I leave the house, I always make sure I have a small care package with me. You never know when you’ll cross paths with someone in need, so why not be ready to help?

It doesn’t have to be anything big, some days it’s just a bottle of water and a granola bar. Other days it’s a bag with snacks, hygiene items, etc. Whatever you’ve got, it’s enough.

Making this a habit means you’re always ready to share when you see an unsheltered neighbor who could use a little support.

Why not keep a care package on you too? Let’s spread kindness and love wherever we go.
