Last night's Celebration of Family was amazing! Thanks to everyone who showed up, cheered us on, and gave so generously. You made it an evening to remember!

A special thank you shout-out to all of our speakers: emcee Honey Mahogany, who guided the evening with so much warmth and heart; Senator Scott Wiener, who reaffirmed why our work is so important; the Talbott Family, who shared their heartwarming (and charming) story on how Family Builders helped them create their family; and Nia, a young adoptee, who shared her story of hope and reminded us all how family is built on love.

Thank you also to our very dedicated Board of Directors, whose passion and guidance make our work possible.

We are also so grateful to our CEO, Jill Jacobs, whose vision, leadership, and advocacy guides our work forward. Her words last night reminded us that every child deserves a family, and that together, we can make that happen.

On National Sibling Day, Family Builders recognizes the importance of sibling bonds—especially for children in foster care.

Roughly 75–80% of youth entering care have at least one sibling, but most are separated because of limited placement options and the urgency of finding homes.

With all the changes and challenges children in foster care face, siblings offer vital emotional support and a sense of connection. For many, it’s their first friendship and longest-lasting relationship. Separation from parents is already traumatic—being separated from a sibling only deepens that pain.

Family Builders recognizes that sibling relationships matter and must be preserved. By becoming a foster parent or supporting organizations that prioritize keeping siblings together, you can help create more stable & nurturing futures for children in foster care.

Tune in to State of the Bay on KALW tonight at 6:00 PM to hear an important discussion on the escalating threats to LGBTQ rights—and how local organizations are fighting back.

Family Builders CEO Jill Jacobs will join Suzanne Ford, Executive Director of San Francisco Pride, and Dr. Tyler TerMeer, CEO of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, to discuss the impact of Trump’s executive orders and an increasingly hostile political climate on the LGBTQ+ community. Jill will discuss how trans youth in foster care are adversely affected by these executive orders.

At a time when fundamental rights are under attack, community advocacy and support matter more than ever. Tune in to hear about the challenges ahead—and the efforts to push back.

Interested in learning more about our foster care and foster-to-adoption programs? Join us for a virtual informational orientation held every first Saturday of the month from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, and every second Tuesday of the month from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Email [email protected] to register.

Family Builders’ foster-to-adopt program focuses on guiding families through the foster care and adoption process to meet both the short-term needs of children who are in foster care, as well as those who need permanent families. Family Builders prepares and supports both couples and single parents in most Bay Area counties to meet the needs of children in foster care.

After months of being placed in different foster homes, Mia and Noah found a loving family that understood the importance of keeping them together. Their adoptive parents provided stability, warmth, and a nurturing environment where they could thrive.

This Thanksgiving, we reflect on what every child in foster care dreams of: a permanent, loving family and a supportive parent.

We are deeply thankful for the parents and caregivers who open their hearts and homes to provide that love and stability.

And we are grateful for the supporters who, in ways big and small, help ensure every child leaving foster care finds a forever family.
