Students, staff, and families celebrated Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day at Ruby Bridges Elementary School today with a welcome by Principal Juan Flores, brief comments by Student Council members, and a symbolic walk through the school's gate and past a statue of Ms. Bridges herself.
"We as a school community can honor Ms. Ruby Bridges here each and every day," Principal Flores said. "We do that by being respectful and tolerant toward each other and by following our four 'B's': Be a Friend, Be Responsible, Be Respectful, and Be Kind."
Special thanks to the US Coast Guard personnel who were on hand to cheer the students on, too!
