The Academy of Alameda

ACADEMIC PREPARATION: The goal is to empower students to obtain the knowledge, skills, and social-emotional qualities that will prepare them for success in middle school, high school, and beyond.

CRITICAL THINKING: Students learn about the danger of a single story and the importance of different perspectives. The Academy is dedicated to engaging students in questioning the past and current events so that they may witness and honor all narratives and voices.

SOCIAL JUSTICE: Our social justice education is based on the framework of identity, diversity, justice, and action. When students develop relationships with people across different cultures, they want them to be treated respectfully and justly. When this does not happen, students will have the tools to interrupt injustice.

DIVERSITY: The Academy of Alameda has one of the most diverse student populations in the state. Diversity has been a conscious decision because it enriches students’ learning experience. Cultural competency skills will help students thrive in increasingly diverse workplaces, and in life in general.
