Happy Labor Day! As we all take steps to care for our community on this day, social distancing, volunteering, etc.

We want to encourage you to get informed about upcoming ballot measures in Alameda. We Care Alameda has always been focused on supporting our City in being the community we know it to be.

Right now it looks quiet from the outside, but lots and lots of work has been happening at the Alameda Wellness and Medical Respite Center. We are so so grateful that Alamedans voted convincingly that the project should move forward, and we are fulfilling your trust in us by designing a well run, safe facility for homeless elders and the frail.The big news right now is that we have submitted our Design Review Application to the City for the Senior Housing Component. They are reviewing it, and expect to send notices out to neighbors this week or early next week inviting comments prior to finalizing approval of the design. In the special election, Alameda voters embraced hope and affirmed our vision for the project.

We’re celebrating our success and giving back to our community this Saturday.

We’re meeting at the future home of the Alameda Wellness Center, 1245 McKay Avenue, at 2pm. We’ll start with a beach cleanup at Crab Cove and reconvene at the Center for a BBQ around 3pm.

We hope you can join us, and please spread the word!
