Enjoy a three-course dinner from Spinning Bones, featuring their rotisserie “ham” pork loin, which they brown sugar brine for a week, marinate it in shio koi for a few days, then spin it on the roti. It’s finished off with roasted tomato jam, garlic oil and umami salt. 😋 This special AMOW dinner also includes a burrata appetizer and banana parfait for dessert. Bring it home or enjoy it in the outdoor patio.

Hello everybody. Just dropping a friendly hello to all of the volunteers I once worked with before moving to Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 2015.
While disappointed that we can’t gather together for the 5th Annual Bank of Marin's Alameda Running Festival, we’re delighted to continue our support of Alameda Education Foundation and Alameda Meals on Wheels!
Monday means Alameda Meals on Wheels. Today our COO, Stephen, completed the no contact delivery for route 4. We’re happy to do what we can to help.
It’s a beautiful day to be out and about helping Alameda Meals on Wheels with getting food to Alamedans in need with We are happy to be able to help.
Alameda Rotarians Donate $2,000 to Meals on Wheels
It has been a while since I have made my routine Friday post about the Rotary Club of Alameda. The Club’s Thursday dine in lunch meetings have become Zoom meetings, and I am preparing to start my term as the 20-21 president of the Club effective July 1, 2020. Fortunately, I have very supportive members, and I am looking to share a very successful Rotary year with the Alameda community.
As far as leading the Club in these challenging times, all I can say is, “It’s going to be a very interesting year”, especially when the first two of our major fundraiser Concerts at the Cove events have been cancelled, and the September concert appears doubtful. More on that in the coming weeks.
Today’s post involves a $2,000 donation from myself and fellow Rotarian Lauren Zimmerman to Alameda Meals on Wheels as part of the Alameda Rotary Endowment Foundation’s $10,000 matching grant program. To get the matching grant, any Alameda Rotarian can select their favorite local Alameda based nonprofit, pledge a specific amount, and submit the application. When approved, the Foundation will match the pledge and send off the money to the organization.
Pictured are President Stephen Zimmerman (middle right) who joined his sister - Lauren Zimmerman Cook (middle left) and me Jeff Cambra (far left with Hawaiian shirt) presenting a check for $2,000 to Meals on Wheels representative Peri Drake foreground w/ check) right after Lauren and Stephen ended their volunteer meal delivery shift.
Alameda Meals on Wheels (MOW) provides an essential and direct benefit to our most vulnerable neighbors. In so many cases, MOW provides a meal and a lifeline to seniors here in Alameda. Lauren and I were truly inspired by their tireless efforts. For more information about Meals on Wheels (and Alameda Friendly Residents) and to donate, please go to:
http://www.alamedamealsonwheels.org. Alameda seniors who cannot get out for a meal depend on all of us at this time.
The Rotary Club’s Matching Grant Program allows individual Rotarians the opportunity to award a grant, which is selected by the Rotarian to support their favorite cause. Interested in attending a Rotary Zoom meeting? Please email me at
[email protected]. I would be honored to have you as my “virtual” guest.
Be sure to wear a mask when you go out of the house and maintain that six foot distance between people.
