Our service territory is experiencing a good bit of outages from the storms that passed through the area earlier this evening.

Our Rentz substation was struck by lightning and is the main source for the outages in Laurens County. We have a crew onsite replacing the damaged equipment as fast as they safely can.

We have a good bit of wind damage in Telfair County and that is the reason for those outages. Crews are working as hard as they can to restore these outages.

As of this time, we do not have an estimated time of restoration. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

⚠️Why Ice Storms are so dangerous…

They destroy infrastructure with pure mass. The accumulation exponentially adds weight to power lines and trees causing them to sag or break altogether.

This is why it’s recommended to cut back overhanging trees that look weak that could either fall on homes or power lines!

Friendly reminders for heating your home through these freezing temperatures:

🔥Keep heating sources 3 feet away from anything that can burn
🌙Turn off heating sources when you leave the room or go to sleep
🔌Plug space heaters directly into a wall outlet and not into an extension cord
❌ Never use an oven to heat your home
🏠Never bring portable generators, camp stoves and grills into your home
