🇺🇸 ACS House Leaders Experience Civic Leadership in Action! 🇺🇸

What an incredible experience for our Alamo City School House Leaders and Vice Presidents! Our students had the special opportunity to participate in the swearing-in ceremony for elected county officials at the Crockett County Courthouse.

Alongside Mr. Brooks Rawson, Director of Schools, and Mr. Kelsie Henning, Principal, our students proudly led those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. We are incredibly proud of the confidence, poise, and respect they demonstrated throughout the event!

The ceremony was facilitated by District Attorney Frederick Agee, and our students had the opportunity to witness an important part of our democratic process—the peaceful transfer of power. They watched as the Honorable Judge Clayburn Peebles administered the oath of office to our newly elected officials:

🇺🇸 Mr. Joe Gibson, County Mayor
🇺🇸 Mr. Troy Klyce, Sheriff
🇺🇸 Mr. Gary Spraggins, Trustee
🇺🇸 Mr. Kim Kail, Circuit Court Clerk
🇺🇸 Mr. Alan Castellaw, Register of Deeds
🇺🇸 Mrs. Dana Branch, Crockett County Clerk
🇺🇸 Mr. Alan Castellaw, Register of Deeds
🇺🇸 Mr. Jasper Taylor, County School Board Chairman

Following the ceremony, our House Leaders enjoyed the reception and had the opportunity to mingle with Judge Paul Conley, Alamo Mayor Kenneth Bodkins, and other elected officials and guests. Our students shook hands, introduced themselves, engaged in meaningful conversations, and represented ACS with such confidence and maturity!

They made such a positive impression that Mayor Bodkins treated our students to a refreshing drink and/or ice cream from Stir Crockett! 🍦🥤 What a special surprise!

We are so thankful that our students had the opportunity to step outside the classroom and experience civics, leadership, government, and community service in action. Experiences like these help our students understand that leadership is not simply a title—it is about serving others, building relationships, and making a positive difference in our community.

When we returned to school, our House Leaders enjoyed lunch and conversation with Principal Henning and Director of Schools Rawson, giving them another opportunity to reflect on the experience and connect with their school leaders.

We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful to the leaders of Crockett County for welcoming them and allowing them to be a part of such a meaningful occasion.

Today’s leaders. Tomorrow’s difference-makers. ❤️💙🇺🇸

These are some really “cool kids”! 😎🍧

Our first graders enjoyed popsicles during recess today to help everyone cool off from the summer heat! It was also the perfect way to celebrate National Eat Outside Day! ☀️🍦

Nothing beats a sweet treat, some fresh air, and plenty of smiles! ❤️💙

🌟 August 2026 Principal’s Helpers! 🌟

Each month, students are randomly selected to serve as our Principal’s Helpers, assisting with morning announcements and other special tasks around the school. The goal of this opportunity is to help our students build confidence, develop leadership skills, and prepare to become future leaders.

A big thank you to this outstanding group who helped kick off our first month of the school year! They did an excellent job, and we are so proud of each of them!

🌟 NEW TO ACS: RCA CLASS! 🌟

We are excited to introduce a new class to the activity rotation at Alamo City School—RCA! This class focuses on reinforcing Alamo’s 25 Essentials, which we have adopted as an important part of our House System.

Taught by Ms. Becky Clark, RCA gives our students opportunities to practice important life and leadership skills, including:

👏 Saying “yes sir” and “no ma’am” when speaking to adults
👀 Making eye contact when someone is speaking
💬 Respecting the comments, opinions, and ideas of others
🤝 Responding appropriately without disrespectful words or gestures
🧩 Learning and practicing conflict-resolution skills

Students are also learning through fun, interactive games and activities that do not require technology. These experiences encourage teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and respect while allowing students to have fun and learn together.

RCA is a fun and innovative way for our students to reinforce the skills and character traits they are learning throughout the school through the implementation of our House System.

At ACS, we are developing students who are prepared not only for academic success, but also for success in life. We are proud to continue building and our Tradition of Excellence! ❤️💙
