There is a phone scam going around. A citizen received a call from supposedly XCEL Energy. They informed the caller that they were on their way to shut off the citizen's electricity for non payment. They then told the caller to stay on the line to make a payment. The citizen called the real XCEL Energy and was informed this is a SCAM. They do not call you up like this. Please be careful when answering calls like this and NEVER give out personal information.

Lane shift work continues
CDOT contractors are shown adjusting the stoplights at Main and State in downtown Alamosa as work continued Thursday to reduce traffic flow from three driving lanes to two between Denver and Edison Avenues. Construction includes restriping driving lanes and installing curb stops and bollards as safety barriers to develop an activated space for downtown businesses. Main Street is expected to be closed to one lane of traffic through Friday and will again be partially closed from July 26-30 as city crews install the curb stops and bollards. The additional 11’ of pedestrian space on each side of Main Street will be used for outdoor dining, retail display, seating, art installations, planters and other interactive uses. Lane reduction is a proven method of “traffic calming” to reduce vehicle speed and improve safety for pedestrians.

We want to say a big thank you to our La Puente's Adelante Family Resource Center #AmeriCorps member Kelli Zimmerman! La Puente is fighting on the front lines of this pandemic and we could never do that without our dedicated AmeriCorps members. Today we want to give a shout out to Rachel Armstrong and Alison Page from La Puente's PALS Children's Program. They have been delivering groceries and activity boxes to families that need them during self-isolation and they do it with a smile on their faces. As Tara with La Puente's Adelante Family Resource Center said: "PALS are our Heroes. They helped gather care packages for our Kiddos who find themselves at home. This is definitely going to add a little fun to their home life!!" We're so happy to have them on our team. Rachel and Alison, thank you for your service!
