They create the product, we tell their stories... Seedme is a social entrepreneurial initiative to help individuals start and sustain micro enterprises. It is growing out of one of the most established social enterprise organizations in the U.S., La Puente Enterprises, which started its first social enterprise in 1994, just a year after a Scandinavian academic paper coined the term. The four curre
nt businesses run by La Puente Enterprises are Milagros Coffeehouse, Rainbow's End Thrift Stores (2 locations), and the Hunt Avenue Boutique. Within these four retail locations, Seedme will feature branded merchandising modules that display items for sale by people in this rural area. The San Luis Valley is roughly 2x the size of Connecticut, has only about 48,000 residents and contains some of the poorest counties in America. At the same time, it is a place that is rich in culture and community, and steaming with artistic talent. Seedme will also connect these micro enterprises with people outside of the mountains that surround the Valley, with other people around the world. Each micro enterprise will feature their story. Story will be central to Seedme. Stories with faces. People to relate with. Our vision is to bring sustainability to the San Luis Valley of Colorado. And to help other rural areas become more sustainable.
