June is Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month, a reminder that small, daily activities can make a big difference over time.

Staying socially connected, moving your body, and keeping your mind engaged all play a role in supporting overall wellness. At the center, that can look like:

🔹 Playing games or working on puzzles
🔹 Joining a wellness or movement class
🔹 Getting creative with crafts or hobbies
🔹 Sharing a meal and conversation with others
These moments help build routine, purpose, and connection.

View our current activity schedule at www.alamosaseniorcitizens.org, or give us a call to find a program that fits your interests. We’d love to help you get involved.

This Memorial Day, we pause with gratitude.

We honor those who served our country and remember those who gave their lives in service. Their sacrifice is a reminder of the strength, resilience, and courage that shape our communities.

At Alamosa Senior Citizens, Inc., we’re proud to be a place where stories are shared, connections are built, and respect for one another carries across generations.

Today, we encourage you to take a moment to reflect, thank a veteran, or spend time with others in your community.

So much of what happens here is made possible because of caring volunteers.

We’re looking for people who can lend a little time to help serve meals, greet guests at the door, support games and classes, or pitch in with simple behind-the-scenes tasks.

Even a small, steady commitment can make a big difference in how our seniors feel seen, welcomed, and supported.

Reach out or stop by to ask about volunteering. We’d love to talk with you.

Thursday lunch is one of the easiest ways to get involved at our center.

Each Thursday, we serve a hot meal in a very welcoming space. The contribution is $5 and meals are first-come, first-served.

This month, we invite you to bring a friend who might also enjoy a good meal and friendly faces.

Remaining at home as you age requires some planning. Traditionally, that planning has focused almost exclusively on money — making sure you have enough to get you through your senior years. But during extensive interviews with several people aging in their homes, it became clear to writer Dan Koeppel that the financial piece is just the beginning. https://nyti.ms/3Qao7i6

If you’ve been meaning to stop by but aren’t sure where to start, we invite you to join us for social games like bingo, poker, and dominoes.

Come to laugh, chat, and spend time with people who enjoy good company as much as the game itself.

If you’re looking for a low-pressure way to meet new people, game time is a great first step.

Looking for a simple reason to get out of the house and see some friendly faces? Our Thursday lunch is a great place to start.

Every Thursday, we serve a hot meal in a relaxed, welcoming space. The contribution is $5. No reservation needed, it’s first-come, first-served.

It’s an easy way to have a good meal, catch up with others, and add something to your weekly routine.

If you haven’t tried it yet, we’d love to see you on a Thursday.
