June is Pride Month, and here in Albany it is a time to honor our LGBTQ+ neighbors whose courage, creativity, and community spirit strengthen our city every day.

Pride is about recognizing the dignity and safety every person deserves, and it is also about listening to the lived experiences of residents who continue to push for inclusion and understanding. I am grateful for the advocates, families, youth, and elders in Albany who work to make our community welcoming, supportive, and respectful.

As your city councilor, I remain committed to ensuring that every resident feels seen, valued, and able to participate fully in civic life. Our city is at its best when everyone has the freedom to belong.

Albany!!! Thank you for getting out, showing up, and speaking your mind. I don't think I have ever seen so many people in our council chambers! Wow! Your dedication and commitment to the future of our community is just what our city needs.

It was a great morning for an official opening at Deerfield Park! We were joined by some local elementary schoolers to test out the new playground. This project was years in the making, and it was an honor to be able to attend the ribbon cutting. Countless hours from city staff were put into making this new play space a reality, and I am grateful for their hard work and dedication to our community. The communication board, in both English and Spanish, is a great addition to help some kiddos communicate more clearly with others. I can't wait to bring my kid to play here! It's spaces like this that draw kids away from screens, help them exercise their bodies, and make new friends along the way. Great job, Albany Parks & Recreation!!

We have A Lot of Passionate Residents in our city who seem to be really excited about tomorrow's meetings! Please remember the Albany Revitalzation Agency meeting starts at 4 pm, and the City Council meeting is at 6 pm Wednesday in council chambers at city hall. Whatever topic you are passionate about, I hope you can make it to the meeting of your choice to have your voice heard! Thank you for engaging with your city government! 🫡

Today in Albany we pause to honor those who gave their lives in service to our country. The Linn County Veterans Memorial at Timber Linn Park in Albany stands as a quiet reminder of the neighbors, friends, and families whose sacrifice shaped our community.

As we move through our day, may we hold their memory with gratitude and respect.

Here is a post with links to the questions about ALPR cameras from the community conversation.

Questions and answers from the May 20 Community Conversation event about Albany Oregon Police Department’s use of Flock Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras are available at https://albanyoregon.gov/police/safety/flock-conversation-may-26

During the session at the Riverfront Community Center, attendees provided their questions on index cards and Police Chief Harnden answered approximately half during the time available. All of the handwritten cards were collected, any questions were transcribed to the best of our ability, grouped with those with similar wording, then answered. Spelling and grammar were for the most part left intact.

Thank you to everyone who came out tonight to talk about ALPR "Flock" cameras during the Community Conversation at the Riverfront Community Center. Hearing support, concerns, and honest questions from neighbors across the city really shows how much people care about getting this right, together.

Please know that the City Council still needs to discuss and vote on whether to reactivate the ALPR system, and your input truly matters in that process.

If you have thoughts or questions, now is the time to share them. You can reach out to your city councilors or come speak during Public Comment at our next city council meeting on Wednesday, May 27 at 6:00 p.m. However you feel about the cameras, your voice belongs in this conversation.
