The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone that Clinton County Schools start tomorrow, Thursday, August 20th.

As students, parents, teachers, and school buses return to our roads, please slow down and use extra caution, especially during morning and afternoon travel.

🚌 Watch for school buses and be prepared to stop when their lights are flashing.
👧 Watch carefully for children walking, riding bikes, or crossing the highway.
🚗 Give yourself extra time to reach your destination and avoid rushing.
⚠️ Stay alert and put the phone down while driving.

A few extra minutes on the road is worth it to help keep our children safe.

Let’s all do our part to make the first day—and every school day—a safe one for Clinton County.

Attached below is the updated weather briefing packet highlighting the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

Key Messages:

Multiple waves of showers and storms are expected between now and tonight, though the main severe risk will be from early afternoon through around sunset. Please see the timing slide for more precise timing information.
Damaging winds are still the most likely severe hazard, though one or two spin-up tornadoes will be possible, especially east of I-65.
Isolated swaths of 2-4+ inches of rain could lead to a few instances of flash flooding.

Attached below is the updated briefing packet for Saturday's severe weather threat.

Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected on Saturday, with the second round during the afternoon and evening hours posing a severe weather risk.
The primary threat is damaging winds, but isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
Some localized flash flooding is possible as well as a result of heavy downpours from both rounds of showers and storms.

STRONG WIND but below severe criteria. as we post 0.71 inches of rain has fallen at Storm Alert Center. More heavy rain for eastern Russell and Pulaski County. Expect strong wind potentially 50 MPH. Nothing severe at this time and we are monitoring.

Good Morning,

An active stretch of weather is looking increasingly likely for the early part of this week. We'll have multiple hazards on the table including damaging winds, isolated flooding, and heat; although none of these are a certainty and this particular weather pattern remains somewhat low confidence. We are most confident that at least 1 or more thunderstorm complexes could affect the area from early Monday through late Tuesday. The most probable time for a severe storm complex would be Monday evening into Monday night. It should also be noted that any heat threats could be wiped out by these thunderstorm complexes on Monday and Tuesday. Stay up to date as these next 48 to 60 hours could have a lot of moving parts.
