Albany Housing Authority Awarded $1.6 Million HUD Jobs Plus Grant
Albany, GA — The Albany Housing Authority is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $1.6 million Fiscal Year 2025 Jobs Plus Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Housing Authority of the City of Albany was selected as one of only 10 public housing agencies nationwide to receive this highly competitive award.
The Jobs Plus grant will provide critical resources to help public housing residents increase employment opportunities, grow their earnings, and achieve long-term economic self-sufficiency. Through this initiative, the Albany Housing Authority will implement a comprehensive, community-based workforce development program designed to connect residents with education, job training, career counseling, financial coaching, and employment opportunities.

"We are honored to be selected as one of only ten housing authorities in the nation to receive this funding. The Jobs Plus program will allow us to expand workforce opportunities, strengthen partnerships with employers, and empower our residents to build sustainable careers and brighter futures."
The HUD Jobs Plus program is a place-based initiative that helps public housing agencies create locally driven employment strategies that encourage work and increase earned income among residents. The program combines employment services, employer partnerships, educational advancement, job placement assistance, financial counseling, and earned income incentives to create a culture of work within public housing communities.
HUD noted that the Albany Housing Authority's selection reflects its commitment to developing innovative approaches that improve employment outcomes and economic mobility for public housing residents.
