Another memorable day celebrating Capital Pride today in Washington Park.

It was a great day at the 20th Say It Loud! BIPOC Pride Celebration in Albany today! 🏳️‍🌈

I was proud to present In Our Own Voice’s CEO, Tandra LaGrone, with a $25,000 check for this year’s operating grant. Everyone in the Capital Region can count on In Our Own Voices to provide a safe, welcoming community to members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

That’s what this month is all about, and I’m thrilled to celebrate with you!

🇺🇸 It was a moving morning in Guilderland honoring our veterans at the Hometown Heroes Ceremony.

Banners are displayed proudly throughout Guilderland and recognize active duty and veteran service members. They’re a constant reminder for us of the importance of their service.

Honored to welcome the NYS VFW Annual Convention and Ladies Auxiliary this afternoon.

Recognizing them is yet another reminder that freedom is never free. Our veterans and their families deserve our support when they return home, and I’ll always work to support them with access to healthcare, housing, and employment opportunities.

This year, I was proud to support an opt-in property tax exemption for veterans who are disabled as a result of their service, and I look forward to continuing to advocate for the benefits our veterans deserve.

🤝 I'm thrilled I was able to provide $20,000 through a grant from my office to Coach Carmen's Mission Accomplished Transition Services, Inc., and present it at their Creative Teen Showcase!

Mission Accomplished's Teen Institutes, programs for 16 to 18-year-olds, are designed for those exploring careers in construction and design, or in fashion and beauty, with a focus on elevating the voices of disadvantaged youth.

Experience in a teen's industry of choice through either a Capital Region of NY-based Career and Technical Education program or self-teaching is required, creating pipelines for students and employers alike.

Founder and Chief Coach Carmen has made it her life's mission to assist every young person navigating this program, and those who complete the program in finding summer employment after the completion of their internships.

Thank you, Coach Carmen, for the work you do every day in our communities.

🏗️ First on WRGB CBS 6: we secured $1 million to finally begin transforming the Harriman Campus in this year’s state budget after a years-long effort.

I toured the Campus yesterday and Wadsworth Labs worksite with Tom Eschen to see how this sea of parking lots and half empty state office buildings will begin to be reimagined with housing, retail space, and mixed-use commercial opportunities.

As we invest in Downtown Albany, we can walk and chew gum at the same time and invest in the other end of our City: Uptown.

I held a town hall earlier this year with surrounding neighborhoods and community members who are excited that Albany’s Uptown Parking Lot District will finally connect with our surrounding Capital City.

This is another opportunity to begin building the Albany we want and to realize the dreams that began back in the early 2000s to undo the planning mistakes of the 1960s.

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ In Our Own Voices has served the Capital Region's gay, le***an, and trans community and gay, Black and brown New Yorkers for decades. The work they do quite literally saves lives.

During Pride Month, I could not be more thrilled to provide a $50,000 grant through my office to help continue their important work.

Albany is one of the birthplaces of the modern LGBTQIA+ rights movement, and our community will always embrace our LGBTQIA+ neighbors and community with open arms.
