Albany County Green Party We are here to organize an independent electorial politics toward building democracy and ecosocialism We need political options here in Albany.

My Name is Dan Plaat and I'm an active citizen of Abany NY. This is my political page for sharing what I'm doing, causes I support, and sharing of information and other political or partisan content I find worth your time. This page represents MY views and opinions and does not reflect the Upper Hudson Green Party. I work to build a political project that is indpendent, radical, and democractic There are several ways to build a better world, one of those ways is with an electoral movement and take state power to free ourselves of big goverment, and empower ourselves to fight big business. I believe the Green party is a worthy organization to build a coalition of the Left to take power in the manner of our choosing. To this end I run campaigns for office and organize people outside of the two party duoploy. I work to build a new economy. One that belongs to communities, workers, and the 99%. I work with community radio because we need media that is OURS. I work with cooperatives and community orgs on urban projects because we need housing and a city that is OURS. We need jobs that are ours. we need an economy and country that is ours. To change everything, start anywhere.

Tomorrow evening is the law committee's 2nd hearing on ranked choice voting and single unified election. Come out and support us as we present our case and stand with this reform effort. It should be an interesting time! City Hall starting at 5:30pm

The Albany city law committee is holding it's hearing on the proposed RCV and SUE proposals. For our part we are writing a fresh statement of support to share; please share what you think should be included. Why you you care about RCV reform and getting rid of local primaries? Why do you hate our elections as they are? This is also an invite for anyone to show up the 28th city hall 5:30pm to make your own public comment. Speak now or complain later!

The status quo warriors, and even some lefties are saying Climate change isn't a winning issue with the working class, or median voter. Consider much of the climate movement has attempted to jump over the masses with a reformist and entryist approach. So pretty self defeating, meanwhile The NY climate law was the result of alot of communities and consistencies working together to get half a loaf. The fact is the democrats do not what to act because capitalists don't what to pay for cooking the planet and us along with it. See our State Party Statement.
