After 30 years of service, Kevin Richardson has retired as the city’s Water/Sewer Superintendent. The Board of Aldermen and city staff gathered yesterday to celebrate this milestone, and we wish him all the best in retirement!

Community Dumpster Day: Saturday, September 12

The City of Albany has arranged for a roll-off dumpster to be placed in the parking lot located just north of the Albany Community Center on Saturday, September 12. It will open at 8 am and will remain until 11 am or until filled.

The dumpster will be monitored and proof of residency within the city limits will be required (driver’s license, utility bill, etc.). Only household waste will be accepted—no yard waste, construction debris or tires allowed. All refuse must be placed directly in the dumpster. City staff will be available to assist, but you should be prepared to unload yourself.

If you are bringing bulky furniture items or a large load of materials, please let us know in advance by calling City Hall at 660-726-3935.

UPDATE: Our tire collection has closed. Thanks to everyone who participated!

Tire collection is open now! We are behind the Albany Animal Shelter on Birch Street until 10 am. This service is free for residents.

Residents: Don't forget about our tire collection on Saturday morning!

The City of Albany will be holding a tire collection on Saturday, August 8 from 8-10 am.

The drop off location will be behind the Albany Animal Shelter at 403 S Birch St. Tires may be dropped off at this designated time only. Tires must be removed from rims.

This collection is open to City of Albany residents. Please bring proof of residency. No commercial dealers.

We are so appreciative of our friends at First Interstate Bank for considering us for this generous donation. Per their employees' request, this funding will be used for improvements to the Albany Aquatic Center. Thank you, First Interstate Bank, for being a valued community partner!

A $40,000 investment became $160,000 in community impact. 🧡

Through a partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, First Interstate helped direct $160,000 to six Missouri nonprofits supporting housing, senior services, food security, childcare, and other essential community needs.

First Interstate contributed $40,000, which was matched 3-to-1 through FHLB Des Moines' Member Impact Fund, generating an additional $120,000 for local organizations.

One recipient, Albany Community Development, received $12,000 to support its efforts to strengthen the community, including the restoration of the historic Rigney Theater as a shared space for residents, students, and downtown activities.

"The Member Impact Fund match helps us stretch each dollar further so local organizations can keep doing the work that matters most for our neighbors," said Amberly Pahut, Director of Community Responsibility.
