Hunt for fiber! "Foods with fiber are beneficial because they're filling and, therefore, discourage overeating — even though fiber itself adds no calories. Plus, when combined with adequate fluid intake, high-fiber fare helps move food through the digestive system and may protect against gut cancers and constipation."

Children 4–8 years need..... 25 grams per day
Children 9–13 years need... 26-31 grams per day (varies by gender)

Here are some of the best sources of fiber:
•whole-grain breads and cereals
•apples
•oranges
•bananas
•berries
•prunes
•pears
•green peas
•legumes (dried beans, split peas, lentils, etc.)
•artichokes
•almonds

Several twists on Pancakes:
*Applesauce and cinnamon
*Blueberries – after mixing ingredients, fold into the batter some frozen blueberries. Be careful to avoid mashing the berries. If a large batch is prepared, add berries to a small portion of the batter at one time.
*Pumpkin puree and cinnamon
*Smashed or pureed peaches

1 lb spaghetti squash
1/4 c. parmesan cheese
2 tbsp. olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste.
