More than 730 Albany teens marked the end of a journey today. Today marked the end of the 2026 Summer Youth Employment Program.

We honored our youth for the growth they achieved while working at more than 70 state agencies, nonprofit organizations, and private businesses during this year's five week program.

We also celebrated several amazing individuals and organizations who worked so hard to ensure our children succeeded. Please join us in celebrating, honoring, and thanking adults who have so generously poured into our teens by donating their time to mentor Albany's future leaders.

Our youth working Workforce Development Institute (WDI) in the afternoon put on an equally interesting presentations during their group presentations as their colleagues from the morning program.

They not only looked at the issues facing people throughout America, they also offered relatable tips to make a positive impact in the world.

Here’s the topics they tackled:

🎨 Art and Creative Spaces
🏫 Chronic Absenteeism (Truancy)
🍎 Food Insecurity
🏠 Homelessness
😧 Mental Health
☮︎ Violence Prevention

Did you know that homelessness affects far more people that you know? A person is considered homeless if they are couch surfing (staying with friends or family on a short term basis, but with no bedroom). A person who is chronically sleeping in their car.
