As the weather gets nicer, drivers are getting more aggressive. Aggressive driving means aggressive enforcement. Distracted Driving (Cell Phone Use) was made illegal in Indiana on July 1, 2020. Distracted driving resulted in 8% of fatal crashes in 2025. Driving faster isn't driving safely. In 2025, speeding was a contributing factor in 29% of all fatal crashes.

We’re proud to share that K9 Griff took 1st place at Conifer Canine’s Christmas Cup in the Single Purpose Division!

This competition is designed to test a team’s full proficiency in obedience, agility, detection skills, handling stressors, tactical decision-making, and overall teamwork. Scores are based on best overall time, stress recovery, accuracy of shooting, tactical soundness, scent detection accuracy, and team cohesiveness without internal tension.

Griff showed incredible heart, drive, and discipline, and we couldn’t be more proud of the teamwork on display.

But above all, this event is not about winning, it’s about training hard, testing abilities, strengthening the partnership, and always striving to improve. Taking home 1st was simply a bonus.

A big thank you to Conifer Canine LLC for hosting such a phenomenal event. Your dedication to high-quality training opportunities is appreciated by all who attend.

Congratulations to all teams who competed, and a special shoutout to Griff for giving it his all!

We’re seeing more golf carts, side-by-sides & off road vehicles on the roads without registration stickers. Just a heads-up—they need to be registered and display a sticker to be street legal.

If yours isn’t registered yet, please take care of it soon at the town municipal office during business hours.

Questions? Give us a call or stop by—we’re happy to help!

The Town of Albany this year updated our Ordinance on Golf Carts, Off-Road Vehicles, and Side by Sides. If you have one of these vehicles in the Town of Albany, it must be registered with the Town of Albany and Inspected by the Albany Police Department. To register, please go to the Albany Town Hall during normal business hours to pay the registration fee of $20 dollars. An Officer from the Albany Poilice Department will then contact you to schedule a time to come out and inspect the vehicle and issue a permit number.

Please do not call the police department directly to schedule a time. The fee must be paid before we will inspect and the office must submit the inspection request to us. If you have any questions, please call the Albany Town Hall during normal operating hours at 765-789-6112

During the month of May, Law Enforcement Agencies across the state and across the country are focusing on driver safety related to seat belts. Indiana Law says that all occupants of the vehicle must be wearing their seat belt. This includes pick-up trucks. Having riders in the bed of pick-up trucks is also prohibited. Lets have a safe summer and remember, before you put your car into motion, Click It or Ticket.

"The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) 2025 Click It or Ticket (CIOT) campaign is a national high-visibility enforcement (HVE) effort encouraging seat belt use. The campaign reinforces the increased nationwide seat belt law enforcement efforts by encouraging drivers and passengers to wear seat belts anytime they drive or ride in a vehicle."

Congratulations to K9 Griff and handler Chief Fritz!
We’re proud to share that they took 1st Place in the Open Area Search category at Searra’s Legacy K9 Trials!

Way to go, K9 Griff! You’ve truly earned those bragging rights (and maybe an extra treat or two)!

This annual event honors fallen Officer Seara Burton of the Richmond Police Dept. It’s more than a competition, it’s a tribute to the legacy Seara left behind and brings together K9 teams to carry on her spirit of service, bravery and love for the job.
