June is National PTSD Awareness Month.

While many children may experience a stressful or traumatic event in their lifetimes, PTSD is only diagnosed when symptoms persist for more than one month and interfere with personal relationships or activities.

A child or teen may suffer from PTSD following a serious car accident, natural disaster, loss of a friend or family member, or physical, sexual, or emotional maltreatment.

Primary care physicians can make use of our evidence-based questionnaires and rating scales in their practice, which include PTSD: https://pulse.ly/hsz0bjj7gl

At Project TEACH, our goal is to be the trusted partner that primary care clinicians turn to when they need comprehensive, practical and reliable resources to enhance the mental health care they provide. We've recently relaunched our free online Resource Directory to help support this goal.

Primary care clinicians can browse through hundreds of evidence-based pediatric and maternal mental health resources, with options to filter by topic (i.e. Anxiety, Depression, or ADHD), format (i.e. PDF, blog post, video), and demographic (provider or parent/family).

See the directory in action here: https://pulse.ly/mhqdiztzda

Project TEACH is now accepting requests for maternal and pediatric mental health core topic trainings.

Maternal Mental Health (MMH) topics are led by a Project TEACH reproductive psychiatrist or perinatal psychologist and are available to any agency in New York State that supports perinatal patients.

Child & Adolescent Mental Health topics are led by a Project TEACH child & adolescent psychiatrist and/or a primary care clinician, and are offered to pediatric and family medicine practices in NYS.
