We are still out there. We know this is ticking some people off that we are enforcing the law on illegal or reckless e-bike/e-scooter riding but...
A. There are laws in place, and it is literally our job to enforce them.
B. Know the rules and ride responsibly.
C. If you are riding within the law, have fun and don't worry about us!

This morning, Albany Police Department officers will be visiting schools throughout Greater Albany Public Schools (GAPS), greeting students and staff as they begin their day.

We value our strong partnership with GAPS and appreciate the opportunity to connect with students, families, and educators. Our officers look forward to sharing smiles, offering high-fives, and helping make it a great start to the school day.

We are proud to support our schools and the community we serve! Greater Albany Public Schools

Our hearts are heavy as we learn more about the shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend. When an incident like this happens, our hearts break. When it happens in our own state, we feel it to our soul.

Tomorrow morning, officers from APD will be visiting our schools to welcome students as they arrive. Our presence is to provide a friendly, reassuring start to the school day and to show support for our school community.

Our hearts are with the City of Bend Police Department, the students, families and school staff of Silver Rail Elementary and the Bend community as they navigate this difficult situation. We stand with our fellow law enforcement officers and the entire school community, sending strength, support and care to everyone affected.

Let's rule out some confusion.
Just so we are clear, none of these are okay...not for a 12-year-old to ride to school, not for a 32-year-old to ride to 7-11, not a 51-year-old to ride up and down the neighborhood streets "just for fun".
We hate being the fun police but safety for riders and fellow drivers is crucial.
Extra patrols are out specifically for e-bike & e-scooter violations.
If you see dangerous riders in your neighborhood, call us. A call to us is better than a call for medics later on.

E-bike crashes are in the news. We do not want to add in any local stories so please keep your eyes out, ride safely and know the rules:https://www.oregon.gov/odot/forms/dmv/6619.pdf

Welcome to our newest officers!
We are excited to have them join the APD family and can't wait to see the impact they will make on our department and our community we are so proud to serve. The future looks bright and we are thrilled to have them on our team!

We know, e-bikes and e-scooters are fun. We get it.
We have heard it all...
"They sell them at Costco, I didn't know kids can't legally ride them."
"I didn't know you needed a helmet to ride an e-scooter."
"But I like to ride on the sidewalk, away from the cars"

You must know the rules before you ride.
We have extra enforcement out for e-bike/e-scooter violations.
Ride safe. Ride smart.
