This levy is a continuing tax and is not a tax increase.

Fun Fact that is not actually Fun: 5.5 million Americans were victims of package thefts last year alone.
The holidays are coming and here are some tips to keep your packages safe:
-Track deliveries online and retrieve packages as soon as it is delivered. Ask a neighbor or family member to pick it up if you can't get there.
-Switch delivery location to your work or pick up the package yourself.
-Use package lockbox or conceal packages from the roadway.

This is a daytime crime and thieves usually approach a home in a casual way with no disguise and do not appear dissuaded by cameras or signs a resident is home. It only takes seconds.
We know this is frustrating. We are frustrated too. This crime of opportunity is a growing trend across the country.
Well, on that note....remember it is Friday, you're alive, someone (probably) loves you and you can call us if you need us anytime.

Ma*****na plants have a very distinct and strong smell....imagine 2800 pounds of it in one U-Haul truck.

On November 3rd, 2021 a detective from our Linn Interagency Narcotics Enforcement (LINE) team was following a U-Haul truck south on I-5 and noticed the scent was practically a flavor.

He coordinated with other law enforcement and arranged for the U-Haul to be stopped and checked out. The occupants claimed they were hauling furniture and the smell was possibly from the driver's T-shirt that needed washed.

The truck was opened and 2800 pounds of black-market ma*****na in 173 large black garbage bags, with an estimated street value of 2.2 million dollars was seized. The occupants, Vidal Gonzales-Tetlctle, 31 years old from Hermiston, Or and Jose Guadalupe-Alatorre, 20 years old from Redway, Ca were both charged with Unlawful Possession and Delivery of Ma*****na and Criminal Conspiracy and lodged at the Linn County Jail.

In 2015 Linn County was designated as a HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) County and the LINE team was established to dismantle large scale drug trafficking organizations in our area. When the LINE Task Force investigates ma*****na-related crime, they focus on the big picture, which includes money laundering, racketeering or other greed related criminal conduct. Often, money made from large scale black market ma*****na operations in Oregon are linked to more serious crimes all over the country and internationally, including gang and cartel-related violence and Human Trafficking.

There are reports of an individual posing as a City "water" employee. They are going door-to-door trying to gain access to homes and apartments. This is not normal. Be alert and ask for a City ID. If you've seen this individual or have camera footage, call APD at 541-917-7680.

Albany Firefighters staffed the Linn County Fair for 12 hours on Ranger 11 during peak hours of fair events. We responded to 6 emergency 911 calls on Friday and Saturday.

We received Ranger 11 in 2019 from an anonymous donor. It gave us the ability to make quick response to areas like the fairgrounds and park trails, where large apparatus can not travel. The Ranger carries a rescue backboard, communications, AED and medical supplies.

Whether it’s transporting a patient through farmland, from a river path or navigating NW Art and Air Show we are here for you.

Calling All Illegal Fireworks Users!!!

We get it. Fireworks are fun but they are HARD on others! Pets, Veterans, firefighters, police officers, dispatchers and those with sensory disorders suffer because of illegal fire works.

Please keep it legal and responsible !

And as always, we're here if you need us.
