What a beautiful day of freedom, community, and joy!

On behalf of the Albany County Legislative Black Caucus and LBC Chair Dr. Carolyn McLaughlin, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who joined us for our Annual Juneteenth Festival at 112 State Street today.

To our community members who came out to celebrate, thank you for filling the Cahill Room with your energy, your spirit, and your love. And to our incredible vendors, performers, and partners, your contributions made this event truly special.

Juneteenth is a reminder of how far we've come and how much further we'll go together. We are grateful for this community every single day.

The Advance Albany County Alliance is hosting Community Workshops on the proposed Intercity Bus Terminal, and the Albany County Legislative Black Caucus encourages ALL community residents to make their voices heard!

This is your opportunity to weigh in on neighborhood retail uses and the design of public spaces at the new terminal, decisions that will shape our community for years to come.

Albany County Legislature Deputy Chairwoman & Legislative Black Caucus founding member Wanda Willingham, joined by Legislators Danielle Gillespie (District 12), Beroro Efekoro (District 7), and Susan P**o (District 5), visited the Albany County Department of Aging at St. Rose Campus last Friday!

Our legislators are always showing up for the community, including our seniors!

Freedom has never been free, and so many Black heroes paid the ultimate price for it.

This Memorial Day, we lift up the legacy of the Harlem Hellfighters, the Montford Point Marines, the Tuskegee Airmen, and every Black service member who stood on the front lines of war while fighting for dignity back home.

Their courage is our inheritance. Their memory is our responsibility.
