🥕 Fresh Produce. Strong Community. Supporting Our Students. 💚

Join our community partners at the Albemarle Downtown Farmers Market Donation Station on Saturday, September 12, from 9:30–11:30 a.m. at Market Station!

While shopping the market, you can purchase fresh produce from local vendors and donate it at the Donation Station—or make a monetary donation that will be used to purchase fresh produce directly from local farmers. 🍅🌽🥬

All donated produce will benefit the Stanly County Schools Backpack Program, helping provide nutritious weekend food options for students who may need a little extra support when school meals aren’t available.

We are incredibly grateful for the Albemarle Rotary Club, West Stanly Rotary Club, NC Cooperative Extension, Stanly County Family YMCA, our local farmers, and everyone who comes together to support our students and families.

💚 Shop local. Give local. Make a difference right here in Stanly County.

🙌 It’s Hi-Five Friday! 🙌

This week, we’re giving a big high five to Chera Maske, TIMS Coordinator with our Transportation Department! 🚌💙

A community member nominated Chera and shared:

“She is awesome. No matter the task or situation, she helps so many drivers, coordinators, and bus garage personnel get students to and from school as safely as possible.”

So much of the work that keeps our buses moving happens behind the scenes, and Chera plays an important part in helping our Transportation team get students where they need to be safely each day.

👏 Hi-five, Chera! Thank you for all you do to support our drivers, staff, and students.

As we head into the Labor Day holiday, we wish all of our SCS families, staff, and community a safe, restful, and enjoyable long weekend! 🇺🇸

It started with a vision....Ten years later we celebrate a our First Decade of STEM! 🌟💡

Ten years ago, Oakboro Choice STEM School began a new chapter with a mission to give students opportunities to explore, create, problem-solve and prepare for the real world through science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

As we celebrate The First Decade of STEM, we're going back to where the story began with this newspaper clipping announcing the opening of Oakboro Choice STEM School in 2016.

Over the course of this school year, we'll be opening the archives and sharing the people, projects, milestones and memories that have shaped OCSS over the past decade. We'll reconnect with alumni and staff, hear from community partners, revisit some favorite moments and see where a decade of STEM learning has taken our students, community and district! 🙌

Ten years of learning. Ten years of innovation. Ten years of STEM.

Here's to The First Decade of STEM — and to everything still ahead. 🚀

💛 Midweek Motivation | Meet Ms. Mandy Scoggins!

This Wednesday, we're celebrating another one of the caring faces behind the meals, Mandy Scoggins, Assistant Manager with School Nutrition at Albemarle High School! 🍎

Mandy has been part of School Nutrition for six years, and this year marks an exciting new chapter as she begins her first year as Assistant Manager at AHS!

Around the cafeteria, many students know her by another name “Auntie.” ❤️
And it's easy to see why. Mandy says her favorite part of the day is simply serving and seeing all of the students who come through the cafeteria.

🍽️ Favorite meal to serve: Bosco Cheese Sticks
❤️ Favorite part of the day: Seeing and serving the students
🏡 Outside of school: Spending time with her children

Thank you, Ms. Mandy, for the warmth and care you bring to the cafeteria each day—and congratulations on your new role! We're lucky to have “Auntie” helping take care of our AHS students.

🍎 Nourishing Minds. One Meal at a Time.

📚💙 September is Attendance Awareness Month!

Every school day is an opportunity to learn, connect, grow and belong.

Regular attendance plays an important role in student success. When students are in school, they’re building relationships with teachers and classmates, developing important skills and staying connected to the learning happening each day.

Throughout Attendance Awareness Month, we encourage our families to help us make every school day count.

Thank you to our families, educators and staff for working together to help our students show up, stay engaged and succeed!

🎓 Attention Seniors & Families: Let’s Talk Paying for College!

Planning for life after graduation comes with plenty of questions—especially when it comes to how to pay for college. We’re here to help!

Stanly County Schools seniors and their parents/guardians are invited to join us for an informative evening with Timeka Ruffin from College for North Carolina - CFNC .

📅 Monday, October 5
⏰ 6:00 p.m.
📍Albemarle High School Auditorium: 311 Park Ridge Rd. Albemarle, NC 28001

During the session, families will learn more about the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and other important information and resources available to help navigate the financial side of college planning.

Whether you’re just getting started or already working through the college process, this is a great opportunity to get helpful information and have your questions answered.
