The annual AVFD Santa Route through the Town of Alberta is moving along right now! The rain nor COVID-19 can hold up Santa!
But, Alberta VFD did just get an emergency call to respond to a crash on I-85, so there may be a delay. Stay on the parade route and see if he continues or goes with the firefighters.
Merry Christmas to all from Alberta VFD!!

PLEASE SHARE - SANTA CLAUS will make his annual quick stops on Christmas Eve in the Town of Alberta to wave to kids of all ages from a distance and leave boxes of bagged fruit and sealed candy at specific locations for pick-up. He will be on the Alberta Volunteer Fire Department’s fire truck as he makes his final rounds before Christmas, stopping to greet everyone and give these bagged treats at four locations in town. An additional stop will be added this year to distribute the bagged treats. The gift bags will be left in the following locations for kids and families so that social distancing guidelines can be practiced.

This 70+ year tradition is a small parade of Alberta VFD’s emergency vehicles looping through town first, and this year it will bring Santa to Bethel United Methodist Church parking lot, followed by the next stop on North Street near the Wynn Center, followed by a stop mid-way on Samford Street, and ending up at the Alberta Town Square on West First Avenue.

The Santa parade starts at 3:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Come out to any of these popular stops to collect the sealed treats and take photos of Santa as he stays on top of the fire truck this year to keep everyone safe. Please share this information with family and friends so we can have a great turnout to welcome Santa Claus to Alberta.

Busy Week for Company 1 with 20 calls since last Sunday. Alberta VFD has responded to a variety of emergency calls recently, including a mutual aid call to assist Lawrenceville VFD last night with a working structure fire on Green Acres Drive. No injuries were reported.
Strong work was accomplished by all personnel to extinguish the fire and fully ventilate the structure. Lawrenceville PD and Brunswick Sheriff's Office also assisted at the scene with traffic control.

Please Share! - The Alberta Volunteer Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®) — the official sponsor of Fire Prevention Week for more than 90 years —to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen!” The campaign works to educate everyone about simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe.
According to NFPA, cooking is the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries in the United States. Almost half (44%) of reported home fires started in the kitchen. Two-thirds (66%) of home cooking fires start with the ignition of food or other cooking materials.

First responders: Visible house numbers can make difference between life and death

Spring is not far away, perfect time to start looking at what needs to be done around your yard. Over the winter, your address numbers on your house or mailbox may have become missing, worn or weathered making them unreadable. Mailboxes need numbers on both sides.

A lack of visible address numbers on houses is adding precious seconds to their response times.

Just a friendly reminder.

With the increasing possibility of snow in the upcoming days, please remember to stay home if you can, but if you must come out, drive slow and cautiously.

Begin preparing early so that if the time comes and we do finally receive some winter weather you are not left scrambling to gather necessities last minute. Bottled water, blankets, flashlights, and non-perishable food are always a great place to start!

As always, have a great day, and stay safe!
