This Tuesday, December 10th, Chick-fil-A officially cut the ribbon on their City of Emporia location at 201 Market Drive. Community members and city leaders gathered to celebrate this momentous occasion with local franchise owner Jason Riddle during the long-awaited grand opening.

In his remarks, Riddle shared his vision for Chick-Fil-A to become Emporia's most caring company. This commitment is evident not only in the restaurant's customer service philosophy but also in its investment in the community. By hiring 110 local residents, Chick-Fil-A is making a significant impact on employment and economic development in the City of Emporia. The new location will not only provide job opportunities but also contribute to the city's economic growth through increased commerce and community engagement.

Additionally, Riddle emphasized his dedication to education and fostering a lifelong love of learning among his employees. Exciting news - Fabric Manufacturer to invest $16M in Mecklenburg County!

“Shalag US Inc. and ownership are looking forward to adding a nonwovens line in South Hill, Va.,” says Rodney Clayton, CEO and general manager of Shalag US Inc. “When our new line is complete and running at anticipated levels, it will increase our overall production capacity in the US by 25%. Some factors in the purchase of the South Hill location are the strategic location, the company’s objective to reach more customers, and the ability to diversify its portfolio.

”The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with Mecklenburg County and the state’s Growth Alliance to secure the project for the state. Gov. Youngkin approved a $117,460 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund to assist Mecklenburg County with this project. The company is eligible to receive state benefits from the Virginia Enterprise Zone Program, administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. Funding and services to support the company’s employee training activities will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.

To create a coordinated ecosystem between education and economic development, Southside Virginia Community College (SV-CC) main campus in Alberta is now the home of Virginia's Growth Alliance. SV-CC has provided much-needed space and support to VGA and our work together.

TECfusions recently unveiled their AI-ready Clarksville Data Center, completed in record time. C-Hall was completed in just 3 months, showing unprecedented speed-to-market and adaptive reuse capabilities.

The company acquired the site with 500kW of customer power load already live, then began their own construction in October, 2023, standing up 6 MW by the end of December. Through phased deployment, capacity grew to an impressive 24 MW by June 2024, with C-Hall contributing 10.5 MW to this total.
