From his service in the Alabama Legislature to his involvement with local organizations supporting our community, he continues to play an active role in strengthening the place we call home.

Progress Rail pours into our community. 💛

We had the opportunity to share CAJA’s mission at their agency marketplace this week.

Through their generous donations to United Way of Marshall County - Alabama, agencies just like ours are able to receive support and continue serving the people who need us most.

Children are given voices.
Those experiencing homelessness are given shelter.
Victims are given a way out.
Families are given hope.

We’re fortunate to be part of this partnership and thankful for every individual who chooses to give and invest in our community!

CAJA volunteers are not reimbursed for their gas when they visit their children or attend hearings on their behalf. You and your group can help cover their costs by collecting gas gift cards for the Day of Caring!

⭐️Volunteer Spotlight⭐️

Angie Morrow has been a CAJA volunteer since 2020. Her six years of service to this program and to the children she's been assigned to are invaluable.

It is truly special to find individuals willing to do this work for no compensation, just to fulfill their desire to make a difference. Many people wonder why they do it... so we have started asking them.

Angie says she had been looking for volunteer opportunities and felt called to this one in particular.

She also states, "Six years later and I am still learning and trying to meet that calling."

We asked her what the best part of volunteering with CAJA is and she replied with ease that "The children are the best part! I have seen so many lives change for the better and have met some extraordinary kiddos."

We are so thankful for her heart and commitment. She advocates loudly for children of Marshall County. From the CAJA staff, we think Angie faithfully answers her calling each and every day! ❤️

🌭❤️ Hot Dogs & Hope

Last week we were able to gather as a program to express our gratitude for the volunteers who make it all possible, our board members who continuously work behind the scenes, and a few of our supporters while in the courtroom.

We were especially grateful to have our judge our favorite GAL 😉 join us and spend some time with the people who show up for children every day.

This event was also a chance for us to introduce our program to some new faces and talk about what it means to volunteer with CAJA. We’re always looking for more people who are willing to show up, speak up, and make a difference for a child.

It was a good afternoon of good food, good conversations, and a whole lot of people who care about kids.

Coming to court is never easy for a child. CAJA is working to create a space that feels a little safer, a little calmer, and a little more like being a kid. 💙

💡Despite living in the most technologically connected era in human history, many of us have never felt more disconnected.

Research suggests that how we spend our energy has a lot to do with our mental health. It points to the idea that we thrive when more of our energy is spent creating than consuming.

Creating isn't limited to painting a picture or writing a book. Creating is using your abilities to generate something good in the world around you.

Psychologists have consistently found that serving others and engaging in meaningful, prosocial actions are linked with better mental health and greater purpose.

Fortunately for us, that can look like volunteering. It can look like using your voice for a child whose own voice may not be heard.

By design, helping others has a way of helping us, too.

In the first 3 months of this year alone, CAJA of Marshall County volunteers advocated for 59 children in the court system, giving each child a voice and helping change their story.
