The 2027 Iowa DNR Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) registration stickers are here in a fresh new shade!

Licenses go on sale this Saturday at 9am throughout the state, which means you can stop by the office anytime after Monday, August 17 at 8AM, to purchase them here in the office. The season is almost here!

Deer Hunters: Some changes to be aware of this year. The DNR has broken the state into Zones, Zone A and Zone B. Monroe County (and surrounding counties) are Zone A. Tags go on sale August 15 at 9 AM.

The only difference for hunters in Monroe County, is that you have to choose your Zone before purchasing your tags. To read further, here is the link to the DNR Press Release.

The Iowa DNR restructured the regulations for Iowa residents by splitting the state into Zone A (91 counties) and Zone B (8 counties in northwest Iowa including Lyon, Sioux, O'Brien, Plymouth, Woodbury, Ida, Crawford, and Shelby) in efforts to allow the deer population to recover.

Those born in Iowa from 1983-present, can now obtain their birth certificate at any County Recorder's Office. Those born in 1982 and before, must still obtain their birth certificate through the county in which you were born.

‼️Good news‼️

Birth records for 1983 have now been added to Iowa's statewide vital records database.

If you were born in 1983 or later, you can obtain a certified copy of your Iowa birth certificate from any Iowa County Recorder's Office.

If you were born in 1982 or earlier, you'll still need to obtain your birth certificate from the county where your birth occurred.

Be aware of the upcoming fee change for certified copies!

📣Please note that effective July 1, 2026, the fee for certified copies of vital records in Iowa will increase from $15 to $20 per copy. This includes certified copies of birth, death, and marriage records.

The process for obtaining certified copies will remain the same, and the marriage application fee will remain $35.

The additional revenue generated from this fee adjustment will help support increased workload and associated costs at the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Getting married in Iowa? Here’s what you need to know!

Marriage applications must be submitted at least 4 days before your wedding date. Iowa law requires a 3-day waiting period, meaning your license is valid on the 4th day after applying.

You may apply as early as you’d like, but the license must be picked up within 6 months of applying or it will be void. Once issued, the license remains valid until it is returned.

When signing the application, both applicants and one witness must present a photo ID. The cost of a marriage application in Iowa is $35.

If you apply for a marriage license in Iowa, your ceremony must take place within the state of Iowa. After the ceremony, the signed license must be returned to the Recorder’s Office where you applied.

Once the signed license is received and processed, you’ll be issued a certified copy of your marriage certificate, which you’ll need for name changes, insurance benefits, passport applications, and more.
