2021 COVID EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), the Covid Emergency Rental Assistance Program, CERA, is a rental, internet, and utility assistance program for tenants to stay housed and relieve rent and utility burdens caused by Covid-19. This is different from previous programs in that CERA will also cover past due utility bills.
The program is open to households earning *80% or less of Area Median Income (AMI)* who have experienced a hardship related to Covid-19, like unemployment, reduction in income, or increased household expenses AND those who are at risk of homelessness or housing instability due to past-due rent or utilities.
In Calhoun County, the income eligibility is $35,800 or less for 1-person households,
$40,900 or less for 2-Person
$46,000 or less for 3-Person
$51,100 or less for 4-Person
$55,200 or less for 5-Person
$59,300 or less for 6-Person
$63,400 or less for 7-Person
and $67,500 or less for 8-Person households.
