The Albion Fire Department had the pleasure to assist a wildland firefighter during her annual physical exercise today. Rachelle, from Colorado but home for a quick visit with family, was notified she needed to complete her task early due to an earlier than expected season back home. We're happy to say she passed with flying colors. The vest you see her wearing weighed 45 lbs and she had to walk 3 miles. Thank you to the Central Noble Athletic Department and Dave Bremer, for allowing us to use your facilities.

Congrats Officer Castle.

Albion Police Officer Ryan Castle recently received the American Heart Association’s, Heart Saver Hero Award. The award stating in part “In recognition of advancing the mission of the American Heart Association and Emergency Cardiovascular Care through a courageous act in an effort to save a life.” By using one of the Albion PD’s AEDs, which many area Officers are carrying in their Police vehicles, Ryan was able to perform this service. The AEDs were donated with the help from local businesses, a few years ago to Law Enforcement agencies in Noble County. It is not uncommon for Albion area First Responders / Police and Fire personnel to attempt to save a life by using the AED and/ or CPR. It’s great that Ryan was credited for his efforts, with this award.

Thank you to ARC of Noble County, for the very generous donation to our department. Nick Berkes and Betsy Marshall stopped by to present it. We are one of a few lucky groups who they made donations to. These funds were raised by the ARC Self Advocates by running and managing a canteen at break times.
Thank You Nick and the rest of the workers in the canteen.

We have begun testing the tornado sirens in and around Albion. We will test them on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month from April until October and it should be at 6 pm sharp. But I wouldn't set your watch by it. We did discover that after last Monday's test, we have a problem with the siren located on the west side of the cemetery. We have contacted the installers and they will be working on it very soon. If ever you feel there is an issue with the one in your area, please contact us at 260-636-7712 to report it.

Just a quick public service announcement:
If you wear latex gloves to prevent contact with any virus, that's fine. But remember this, if you don't change them out and you decide to wear them all day, you are doing no good to yourself. They are designed for temporary use to protect your skin (usually non-intact skin) from being a route of entry to your body. They will collect everything your normal skin would. So if you don't change them, it's as if you didn't wash your hands.
By all means, wear gloves, but learn how to take them off properly and dispose of them correctly.

A great opportunity to get some quality work in prior to your summer season. Last year we had nearly 50 participants so get in early. You do NOT have to be a Central Noble student to attend. So Busco girls, lets get at it.
