🚒 NTFD Members Participate in Local LEPC HazMat Exercise ☣️

Members of the Noble Township Fire Department participated this morning in a local LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Committee) exercise, working alongside our public safety and community partners to strengthen preparedness and response capabilities.

The Local Emergency Planning Committee brings together fire departments, EMS, law enforcement, emergency management, healthcare, industry, and other community partners to plan and prepare for emergencies involving hazardous materials and other threats within our community.

This exercise simulated a hazardous materials incident involving sodium hydroxide, a corrosive chemical that can cause serious injury following exposure. The scenario included multiple patients down, requiring responders to coordinate several critical functions, including:

🚒 Incident Command and unified response operations
☣️ Hazardous materials identification and scene safety
🧯 Establishing hot, warm, and cold zones
🚿 Decontamination operations
🚑 Triage, treatment, and coordination of multiple patients
📻 Communications and coordination between responding agencies

Exercises like this give responders an opportunity to train together before the real emergency happens. They allow agencies to test plans, practice communication, identify areas for improvement, and build relationships with the people they may be working beside when lives are on the line.

We are proud of our Noble Township Fire Department members for continuing to train, learn, and work with our local partners to better serve and protect our community.

School begins tomorrow in our area. Remember that children and school buses will be out. Slow down, put the distractions away and be aware of your surroundings. Plan your drive accordingly, leaving extra time for your commute and be prepared to stop for school buses.

The Noble Township Fire Department is excited to celebrate Onion Days with our community! Whether you’re enjoying the parade, great food or spending time with family and friends, let’s all do our part to make this year’s festival safe and memorable.

A few safety reminders:

🧅 Stay hydrated—it’s easy to get caught up in the fun.

🚒 Watch for emergency vehicles and always give them the right-of-way. Keep emergency lanes clear.

👧 Keep a close eye on children and choose a family meeting place if you become separated.

🌞 Dress for the weather and take breaks in the shade when needed. Apply sunscreen and wear a hat.

📱 Report suspicious activity- if you see something, say something.

🚶‍♂️Watch your step - cables, uneven ground, and crowded areas can lead to trips and falls.

🚒 Wednesday Night Training: Surface Water Rescue 🌊

This Wednesday evening, members of the Noble Township Fire Department sharpened their skills during surface water rescue training. Our firefighters practiced critical rescue techniques, equipment deployment, victim retrieval, and teamwork to prepare for emergencies.

Training like this ensures that when the call comes, our members are ready to respond safely, efficiently, and professionally. We are committed to continuous training so we can provide the highest level of service to our community.

Noble REMC is working to restore power in the area.

🚨 Outage Alert 🚨

There are currently around 800 Noble REMC members without power in southwest Noble County. A tractor has hit our lines and brought down multiple three-phase poles, causing significant damage.

Crews have been dispatched and are working to restore power, but there is a lot of work ahead for our linemen because of the extent of the damage and the inability to reroute power. We appreciate your patience, especially in this heat. Our crews are working as safely and quickly as possible to restore power to the affected members.

As we celebrate the birth of our nation, we wish everyone a happy, safe, and memorable Fourth of July. Today, we honor the freedoms we enjoy and remember the brave men and women—past and present—who have sacrificed to protect them.

Our members are standing ready to serve if needed, but we hope everyone enjoys a day filled with celebration, gratitude, and safe memories.
