Yesterday, June 5, members of the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office joined the Albion Police Department, Albion Joint Fire District, Mercy EMS, and other community partners for the Albion Central School District’s DWI simulation ahead of prom and graduation season.

These simulations provide students with a powerful and realistic look at the devastating consequences of impaired driving, reinforcing the importance of making safe and responsible choices.

Sheriff Christopher M. Bourke remains committed to keeping our roadways safe and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to celebrate life’s milestones—so there are no empty chairs at graduations across Orleans County.

On May 29, Buffalo Station Targeting Unit agents in Cheektowaga, NY, identified a “hot shot” truck driver as an illegal alien. Hot shot truck drivers use class 3-5 pickups and trailers to transport time-sensitive freight. Because loads under 26,000 lbs. don’t require a CDL, this method is attractive for illegal aliens seeking to avoid increased scrutiny. The individual was arrested and processed for removal.

Sheriff Christopher M. Bourke and the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office are saddened to learn of the passing of retired Orleans County Sheriff David Green. Sheriff Green was a respected leader in both local law enforcement, and the fire service as the Orleans County Fire Coordinator, dedicating decades of service to the people of Orleans County.

We ask that you please keep Sheriff Green’s family, friends, and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

This week, Investigators Pahuta, Marsceill, and Colonna suited up and hit the road to assist with seatbelt enforcement as part of the Buckle Up New York campaign!

As Memorial Day weekend approaches, Sheriff Christopher M. Bourke and the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office would also like to remind everyone to make safe and responsible decisions. Dedicated DWI enforcement patrols will be on the road throughout the holiday weekend. Please plan ahead for a safe and sober ride home.
