Through the Years: January events in Orleans County

1850, Jan. 7: Mid-1800's, the county would average 50 deaths per year from Typhoid fever.

1871, Jan. 28: KENDALL - Social Lodge No. 713 F. & A.M. Charter granted.

1887, Jan. 19: ALBION - Alice Wilson, 34 year old housewife and mother of 5 found strangled in her bed at 5:00 a.m. Whodunnit?

1916, Jan. 10: YATES - Langdon's livery and drive barn and the new Lyndon theater burn to the ground.

1927, Jan. 25: MEDINA - Fire destroyed 13 autos in Beer's Chevrolet garage, loss est. $38,000.

1962, Jan. 8: BARRE - Ladies Auxiliary of Barre Fire Company formed.
