The Noble County Sheriff’s Department is saddened to report that retired K9 Jax has passed. K9 Jax had a great career, starting with the Lagrange police department and transferring to the Noble County Sheriff’s Department with his handler Nick Dubea. Jax was an amazing K9 and will be greatly missed not only by the department, but also the Dubea family. Rest in peace Jax.

Noble County Sheriff’s Department K9 Oz to get donation of body armor
Noble County Sheriff’s Department, IN - K9 Oz will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Oz’s vest was sponsored by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. and will be embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of Don Fike”. Delivery is expected within ten weeks.
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 6,603 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, made possible by both private and corporate donations.
The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old, actively employed, and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest. On July 29th, the Noble County Sheriff’s Department celebrated and recognized Lt./Det. Shawn Dunafin on his well earned retirement after serving 25 years with the department. Congratulations and best wishes on your next adventure.

This evening, Noble County Sheriff's Deputies responded to an address in rural Noble County regarding concerns about animals living in poor conditions.

After speaking with the property owner, the Noble County Prosecutor's Office, and the Indiana State Board of Animal Health, the owner voluntarily surrendered 14 dogs and 9 cats to the Humane Society of Noble County. These animals will now receive the care, treatment, and attention they deserve.

We also want to share an opportunity for our community to help.

Tomorrow, Friday, August 7, the Orange Township Fire Department will host its annual Ball for a Cause at Kelly Park in Rome City. If you're attending, please consider bringing a donation of dog or cat food, toys, cleaning supplies, or other pet care items to support the Humane Society of Noble County.

Your generosity will help care for the animals surrendered today, along with the many others the Humane Society looks after every day.

Thank you to everyone who works together to make a difference for the animals in our community.

What do we do besides play softball?

We show up. Not because we have to.
Because that’s who we are.

This week, our volunteers got together and purchased pet food that will be donated to the Humane Society of Noble County, Inc., Indiana in support of our Ball for a Cause softball game.

Every bag of food, every donation, and every person who joins us helps make a difference for animals waiting on a second chance.

We believe serving our community goes beyond emergency calls. Sometimes it means fighting fires. Sometimes it means helping families. And sometimes… it means making sure a dog or cat has a full food bowl.

Why?

Because if we have the opportunity to help, why wouldn’t we? ✅

Join us this Friday at 6:00 PM at Kelly Park for our Third Annual Ball for a Cause softball game. Bring a bag of dog food, cat food, treats, toys, or other shelter supplies and help us fill the Humane Society’s shelves.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license.
Additional minimum standards and criteria are included with the application.
Applicants will be required to successfully complete all phases
of the hiring process including a written test,
physical agility test, psychological evaluation, polygraph,
drug screen, medical examination,
oral interview(s), and a background investigation.
LATERAL APPLICANTS
Lateral applicants who are ILEA Certified Officers may qualify for the Lateral Incentive Program. Those with 3 years Law Enforcement Experience and ILEA Certified may receive up to 10 paid vacation Days to start.

Salary for this position is $65,007 after completion
of 90 day @ 10% less pay and 180 day probationary period.
