🔥 Warm, breezy, and dry conditions today will lead to elevated fire weather concerns, especially in northwest and southern IA.

Recent rainfall in many areas should help to mitigate serious fire weather concerns, but sunny skies and breezy winds will still work to dry out vegetation through the day.

Albion Fire Department and Albion First Responders had the honor of hosting State Representative Brett Barker for Iowa at the house today.

We encourage rural volunteers to continue to pay attention to the bills being presented, and reach out to your local representatives with concerns or oppositions. Research these bills and discuss them.

We all know funding to operate is crucial, and it’s important to speak up when there’s a potential threat to our volunteer services.

🚨 Iowa Fire Weather Alert – Red Flag Warning Wednesday 🚨

Iowa will be dealing with critical fire weather conditions on Wednesday as a powerful west wind combines with extremely dry air and dormant grasses across the state. This is the type of setup where fires can start easily and spread rapidly in a matter of minutes.

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for much of central, north central, and south central Iowa from 10 AM to 7 PM, with a similar warning in place for parts of northeast Iowa from Noon to 7 PM.

Winds will be the biggest concern, blowing from the west at 25 to 35 mph with gusts reaching 40 to 50 mph. At the same time, humidity levels will drop into the low teens and 20% range, creating an environment where vegetation can ignite quickly.

The National Weather Service urges everyone to avoid outdoor burning and use extreme caution with anything that could produce a spark. Under these conditions, any fire that develops will likely spread out of control fast.

The temps are dropping again folks. We’re opening the station up as a warming shelter again.
Please contact Logan Kelley, any fire personnel, or message us on here if you are in need of a warm place with these frigid temps.
