Albion Public Library

Albion Public Library Our page is all about information and fun! Albion Public Library was started in 1981 by Flora Wing Champlan. We pride ourselves on that.

Our books were housed in a corner of the Albion Elementary School’s library, with patrons using a side door for access. Flora also kept books in the back of her car, and drove around town to deliver materials to patrons that couldn’t get to the Library. As the Library collection grew, a dedicated group pulled together, did a lot of fundraising, received a land donation, a building was erected by v

olunteer labor, and a home for our Library was found. Just about every Albion resident participated in some way. School children each took handfuls of books from the library and walked the collection from the school to the new building across the street. In 2002 our current building opened its doors. We have grown the Library collection to over 8000 volumes, many of which have been donated. The Library started as a volunteer organization, and still operates that way.
