As we continue Fire Prevention Week, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Emergency Management, and 911 Dispatch want to share two simple ways to prevent lithium‑ion battery fires:

⚡ Use the Right Charger

Always use the charger and cord that came with your device—or ones approved by the manufacturer. Using the wrong charger can damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.

⚡ Charge on a Safe, Hard Surface

- Charge devices on a hard, flat surface like a table, desk, or floor.
- Avoid beds, couches, and pillows—soft surfaces trap heat and can cause batteries to overheat.

CTFD was able to attend the Olivet Community Schools Career Fair today thanks to Firefighter Ward. We got to talk with students about the fire service, firefighting equipment, and more specifically, our SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus). Thank you to everyone who stopped by, and thank you Olivet FFA for letting us borrow your canopy!

A family member has been in communication with Jamie Lee Goodale. At this time, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is no longer requesting the public’s assistance in locating Jamie.

Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Seeks Public’s Help Locating Missing Pennfield Township Woman

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 48-year-old Jamie Lee Goodale of Pennfield Township.

On September 28, 2026, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the Pennfield Township Patrol responded to the 500 block of Limewood Drive at the request of Goodale’s family members, who reported they had not heard from her in several days.

Deputies checked Goodale’s residence but were unable to locate her. Personal belongings were found at the residence; however, her vehicle, a copper colored 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse, was not there.

Goodale is approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs approximately 170 pounds. She has blonde hair and brown eyes. A recent photo of Goodale is included with this release.

Anyone who has seen Goodale, has had contact with her recently, or has information regarding her current whereabouts is asked to contact Lieutenant Ben Hess at 269-781-0880 or provide an anonymous tip through Silent Observer at 269-964-3888.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the public’s assistance and encourages anyone with information, even if it may seem insignificant, to contact law enforcement.

SATURDAY: EXCESSIVE RAINFALL OUTLOOK

The latest WPC outlook places southern Lower Michigan in a Slight Risk for excessive rainfall, with a broader Marginal Risk extending farther north.

Periods of heavier rain could lead to localized flooding, especially in areas that received repeated rounds of rain. This outlook is valid from 8 AM Saturday to 8 AM Sunday. And remember, if you come across a flooded roadway this weekend, don't chance it. Turn around and find another route.
