The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
Southeastern Orleans County in western New York...
Central Genesee County in western New York...
Southwestern Monroe County in western New York...

* Until 730 PM EDT.

* At 655 PM EDT, a tornado producing storm was located near Oakfield,
or 7 miles southwest of Albion, moving southeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Damaging tornado.

SOURCE...Radar confirmed tornado.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

* Locations impacted include...
Batavia, Albion, Le Roy, Byron, Churchville, Oakfield, Riga, Stafford, Bergen, and Elba.

This includes Interstate 90 between exits 47 and 48.

⚠️INSTRUCTIONS: ⚠️To repeat, a tornado is on the ground. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a
basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy
building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.

Heavy rainfall may hide this tornado. Do not wait to see or hear the

Enhanced Risk of Severe Thunderstorms Across Western and Central NY

NYS Office of Emergency Management: There is an enhanced risk for severe thunderstorms in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Chemung, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Onondaga, Ontario, Orleans, Oswego, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tompkins, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates until tomorrow 9/3/2026 at 8:00 a.m.

Scattered to numerous severe storms containing damaging winds, severe hail, and/or tornadoes may occur. Flooding, high winds that blow objects around, downed trees, and power outages will be possible.

The National Weather Service may issue a weather watch or warning.
