Happy National Lighthouse Day!

To celebrate, tonight, Friday, Aug. 7, the Oak Orchard Lighthouse Museum at Point Breeze will offer a special preview of its 2026 GO Art! grant-funded musical addition to the light show on the lighthouse.

This year, with GO Art! SCR grant funding, the museum commissioned original musical compositions by local artists to accompany the nightly light display.

Weather permitting, the special preview will take place a half hour after sunset tonight. Come celebrate National Lighthouse Day and experience a preview of what’s to come.

Orleans County Tourism Invites Photo Submissions for 2027 Marketing Materials

Orleans County Tourism has opened its annual call for photo submissions, encouraging the community and visitors to share their favorite images of the
county.

Selected photographs may be featured in the organization’s 2027 marketing materials, including
the travel guide, calendar, fishing calendar, social media and other promotional campaigns.

Submitted photographs must be taken within Orleans County and highlight a tourism-focused subject, such as the Erie Canal, Lake Ontario, museums and historic sites, outdoor recreation, natural scenery, annual events or other attractions. Images should capture the destinations, experiences and landscapes that showcase what makes Orleans County a fun and memorable place to visit.

Images selected for use will receive appropriate credit. Those chosen to represent a month in the 2027 calendar or featured on the travel guide cover will also receive an Orleans County Tourism swag bag. Individuals whose images appear in the calendar will receive five complimentary copies.

Tonight’s OONA concert will feature the Stone Age Romeos, playing classic ’70s vinyl and more at the Orleans County Marine Park from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Admission is $2 per person or $5 per family. Seasonal dock renters, OONA members and sponsors receive free admission. Food and beverage vendors will be on site. A no-cooler policy is in effect.

Tomorrow, Sunday, Aug. 2, the Orleans County Historical Association will host its first cemetery tour of the season at Maple Ridge Cemetery. Led by Orleans County Historian Catherine Cooper, the tour begins at 6 p.m. at the cemetery, 12055 Maple Ridge Road, Shelby.

The tour will be held rain or shine. Admission is free, and donations are appreciated to support the Orleans County Historical Association.

The 2026 Orleans County Historical Association Cemetery Tour Lineup includes:
