Housing is a public good - the lack of it impacts physical health, mental health, educational outcomes, economic development, and child wellbeing. We should all be working harder to dismantle the housing “market” by demanding policies created in the value of housing as a human right.

Disturbed by the latest HUD report highlighting record-high rent increases. The surge is a stark reminder that landlords raise rent for profit which often affects those already struggling. Let’s advocate for policies that abolish housing as a commodity.

"Without significant and sustained federal investments to make housing affordable for people with the lowest incomes, the affordable housing and homelessness crises in this country will only continue to worsen," warned one campaigner.

What if housing were treated as a human right rather than as real estate? A national group of tenants have come together to make this vision public policy.

“Soaring rent” is intentionally raised by landlords. Yesterday, we prevented the eviction and potential homelessness of a family with 5 children. The landlord had started eviction proceedings because they owed $329. While eviction prevention assistance works, housing should not be a for-profit market but a public good.

The United States has experienced a 12% increase in homelessness, to its highest reported level. Federal officials Friday said soaring rents and a winding down of coronavirus pandemic assistance combined to put housing out of reach for more Americans. Numbers in the January count were up across the....

“If you’re a bad tenant, you get evicted, but if you’re a bad landlord, what are the protections involved for those who have been unfortunately careless in protecting innocent lives from basically being evicted, because they literally can’t live there, the buildings are in squalor” - State Rep. Andrea Romero

“Time and again, people told the researchers that they didn’t know they were going to lose their housing until a few days before it happened. Most said that an extra $300 a month would have helped them avoid homelessness”

Researchers found that homeless people in California were often living in poverty within the state, until they suddenly lost their home.

🏠 Housing is a fundamental human need and a public good. At Amparo, we firmly believe that ensuring people have stable housing is crucial in averting adverse circumstances. A recent study by the University of California, San Francisco sheds light on the reality of homelessness in California. Contrary to popular myths, many people who are homeless were previously working and living in poverty until they lost their homes. The loss of housing leads to a downward spiral affecting their health, mental well-being, and overall stability. We must address the systemic issues and work towards providing permanent homes and supportive services for all. Join Amparo in advocating for housing as a human right. Together, we can make a difference. 💙

🏠🌍 Housing is a fundamental human right that should be accessible to all. We recently found inspiration in the powerful phrase "None of us are home until all of us are home" displayed prominently at the Francis House of Peace in Philadelphia. It serves as a reminder that we must address the growing issue of young adult homelessness, particularly among LGBTQ individuals.

Did you know that approximately 40 percent of homeless young adults identify as LGBTQ? This alarming statistic highlights the urgent need for support and inclusive housing solutions. At Francis House of Peace, residents have access to medical, behavioral health, and recovery services, while also being eligible for employment and education assistance.

Let's work together to create a world where everyone has a safe place to call home. Join us in raising awareness about the importance of housing as a human right. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that no one is left without a home. 🏡💙🌈

Thanks to Let's Talk New Mexico for shedding light on this crucial issue.

Serge and other experts explored the intricate dynamics between landlords and tenants, ongoing efforts to regulate the industry, and the impact of recent failed housing bills. It's clear that action is needed to address the shortage of affordable rentals in New Mexico.

Let's work together for accessible, equitable housing for all! 🏡💚
