Bernalillo County is the traditional homelands of the Tiwa, other Pueblo Nations, Diné, Apache, and Genízaro communities. They stewarded this land and cultivated many of the crops featured on Thanksgiving dinner tables. Corn, turkey, potatoes, red chile, pumpkin, and cranberries were all first farmed by Indigenous Americans. We're grateful for the Native farmers, food justice advocates, and leaders in our community. #BYFbuzz #SupportNativeFarmers #TraditionalFoods #IndigenousCuisine

👍PROS Thumbs Up Thursday👍
Congratulations to Nabaahi Tome for his new position of Recreation Coordinator at Paradise Hills Community Center. Nabaahi has been employed with the PROS department for 8 years. He is very excited to implement and expand on the various programs offered to the community. He is ready to bring back the community events after these trying times we've had over the last year. A fun fact about Nabaahi is that he works part time as a Barista at Starbucks.

Give yourself and wildlife a break this fall. #leavetheleaves! Leaf litter, flower heads, and plant stalks left in place provide habitat and food for birds, insects, and microorganisms over winter. Skip some of the fall cleanup for a healthier yard and ecosystem.

September through November is an ideal time to plant trees, with the exception of bare-root plants such as roses and some fruit trees. Cool weather, coupled with soils that have not yet frozen, allows roots to grow and expand before dormancy. In the spring, they’ll be ready for vigorous growth. Bare-root plants should be planted in the winter when they are fully dormant. #BYFbuzz #FallGardening #treestreestrees #HighDesertGardening #RightTimeRightPlaceRightTree
