This facility offers the public information and resources on the city of Albuquerque Open Space program. Renovations of the facility were completed in September 2006. The Visitor Center has exhibits interpreting the amazing natural and cultural resources the Open Space Division protects. It also features an art gallery, agricultural fields that draw a variety of wildlife, and stunning views of the Sandia Mountains. The Open Space Visitor Center also offers comfortable indoor and outdoor viewing areas where you can watch Sandhill cranes and other migratory birds during their fall and winter migratory season.

Fire danger is high in Open Space properties. With drought, high winds and temperatures, any fire can quickly become dangerous and destructive. Here’s how you can help prevent fires and keep our communities safe.

LEARN BEFORE YOU BURN – Call your County burn hotline (Bernillo County 468-7200) before you burn on your property and use safe burning practices. Open Burning — City of Albuquerque (cabq.gov)

SPARKS MAKE STARTS – The operation of motorized vehicles is prohibited off established roadways in Open Space property. Stay on existing roads and trails and don’t drive or park on vegetation. Fireworks are strictly prohibited in Open Space Areas.

NOPE TO SMOKES – Smoke or v**e only inside cars

KNOW THE RULES – Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, open flame, campfire or stove fire is prohibited on Open Space lands except in designated areas; there are no areas in the bosque.

LEAVE IT LIKE YOU FOUND IT – Put trash in bins provided or pack it out so others can enjoy our public lands

IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING – Call 911 to report wildfires or other illegal activities

BE FIRE SMART AND LET’S KEEP OUR OPEN SPACE CLEAN AND GREEN!
